YOUR CHOICE YOUR DESTINY
FULL SERMON FOR YOUTH
Title: Your Choice, Your Destiny
By Evangelist John Emmanuel
---
Opening Scripture:
Deuteronomy 30:19 (NKJV)
> “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
---
Introduction:
Dear youths, life is a journey filled with choices. Every day we make decisions—what to do, where to go, who to follow, what to say. But here’s a powerful truth I want you to hold on to:
> Your choices today determine your destiny tomorrow.
You are not too young to begin thinking about your future, your purpose, and where your life is heading. God has a beautiful plan for you (Jeremiah 29:11), but whether you walk in it depends on the choices you make.
---
1. God Gave You the Power to Choose
Genesis 2:16–17 tells us that even in the Garden of Eden, God gave Adam and Eve the power to choose:
> “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat...”
God didn’t create us as robots. He gave us free will. Why? Because love without choice is not real love. Faith without decision is not genuine.
But with this freedom comes responsibility. Wrong choices come with consequences. And right choices come with rewards.
---
2. Choices Define Your Character
Proverbs 1:10 (NIV)
> “My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them.”
As a youth, you will face peer pressure. People will tempt you to try drugs, join cults, be sexually immoral, lie to succeed, or chase money at any cost. But remember:
> Every little choice you make adds up to the person you're becoming.
You don't suddenly become a godly man or woman—you choose it daily. You don't fall into destruction overnight—it begins with small compromises.
---
3. Examples of People Whose Choices Shaped Their Destiny
A. Joseph – Chose Integrity
Genesis 39:9
> “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
Joseph chose to run away from sin, and though it landed him in prison temporarily, it launched him into destiny eventually. He became second-in-command in Egypt.
Lesson: Sometimes, right choices bring temporary pain but eternal gain.
---
B. Daniel – Chose Conviction Over Compromise
Daniel 1:8
> “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself…”
Even in a foreign land, Daniel chose to stand for God. And God lifted him up, gave him wisdom and influence.
Lesson: You can’t make a difference if you don’t choose to be different.
---
C. Esau – Chose Temporary Pleasure Over Long-Term Blessing
Hebrews 12:16
> “...Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.”
One careless choice cost him his generational blessing.
Lesson: Don’t trade your destiny for short-term enjoyment.
---
4. Key Areas Where Your Choices Matter
A. Choice of Friends
Proverbs 13:20
> “He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.”
Wrong friends can drag you down. Right friends can pull you closer to your purpose. Choose godly friendships!
---
B. Choice of Habits
Galatians 6:7
> “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
You are a product of your daily habits. Choose to pray. Choose to study. Choose to grow. Don’t let social media consume your life while your Bible gathers dust.
---
C. Choice to Follow Jesus
Joshua 24:15
> “...Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
The greatest decision you will ever make is to choose Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Everything else flows from that.
---
5. Destiny is Not a Product of Luck but of Godly Choices
Romans 8:28
> “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
God can turn your mistakes around if you surrender to Him. But you don’t need to crash before you learn. Make godly choices now, and your future will be bright.
---
Practical Ways to Make Right Choices:
1. Pray before decisions – James 1:5
2. Seek wise counsel – Proverbs 11:14
3. Let God’s Word guide you – Psalm 119:105
4. Say NO to sin and YES to God – Titus 2:11–12
5. Surround yourself with godly mentors and friends
---
Conclusion:
> You are not too young to shape your destiny.
Your future is not determined by your background but by your choices. Choose purpose. Choose purity. Choose prayer. Choose Jesus. And your destiny will shine.
---
Altar Call:
If you’re here today and you know you haven’t made the right choices... if you’ve never given your life to Jesus... this is your moment.
Choose Him now. Surrender your life and let Him guide your path.
Romans 10:9
> “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
---
Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, today I choose You. Forgive me for every wrong choice I’ve made. Help me to live for You and walk in Your purpose for my life. I choose life. I choose destiny. I choose to follow You all my days. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
---
Closing Charge:
Remember youth:
> “You are the architect of your tomorrow. Build wisely. Live intentionally. Choose destiny.”
Your choice… your destiny!
