INTRODUCTION

The Apostle John gives us a powerful revelation in 1 John 4:17 — “As He is, so are we in this world.” This truth is not reserved for heaven. It is not a promise that will be fulfilled after we die. It is a reality to be lived now, in this present world. This scripture unlocks the identity, authority, and victory of the believer in Christ.

Today, we will examine:

1. What does “As He is” mean?

2. What is the implication of “so are we”?

3. How do we walk in this reality?

---

1. WHAT DOES “AS HE IS” MEAN?

A. Christ's Current Position

Jesus is not on the cross anymore. He is risen, glorified, and seated at the right hand of God (Ephesians 1:20-21).

He has all power and authority (Matthew 28:18).

He is in victory, not in defeat.

He is righteous, blameless, holy, full of glory.

This is who He is now — and as He is, so are we!

B. Christ’s Nature

Jesus is the Son of God — and He calls us brethren (Hebrews 2:11).

He is righteous (1 John 2:1), and we have been made the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).

He is filled with the Spirit without measure (John 3:34), and we have received the same Spirit (Romans 8:11).

---

2. “SO ARE WE” — WHO ARE WE NOW IN CHRIST?

A. Our Position

Ephesians 2:6: “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

We are not victims; we are victors (Romans 8:37).

We are not trying to be like Christ; we were created in Him (Ephesians 2:10).

B. Our Identity

Sons of God – John 1:12

Ambassadors of Christ – 2 Corinthians 5:20

Joint-heirs with Christ – Romans 8:17

Temple of the Holy Spirit – 1 Corinthians 6:19

We are not merely forgiven sinners trying to survive. We are partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).

C. Our Authority

Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give unto you power… over all the power of the enemy.”

Mark 16:17 – “In My name shall they cast out devils...”

We represent Christ and continue His work on earth (John 14:12).

---

3. HOW DO WE WALK IN THIS REALITY?

A. Renew Your Mind

Romans 12:2 – Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

You can’t walk in who you are until you know who you are.

Meditate on the Word. Stop seeing yourself as a failure, weak, unworthy — see yourself as He is!

B. Walk in Boldness and Love

1 John 4:17 links this truth with love and boldness.

Perfect love casts out fear — you have confidence because your identity is secure.

You’re not begging; you’re reigning (Romans 5:17).

C. Live a Victorious Life

Don't tolerate what Jesus wouldn't tolerate.

Speak with authority. Pray with assurance. Preach with power.

You are His representative — His hands and feet on the earth.

---

4. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS

A. In Ministry

You don’t need to wait for a special feeling — you have the Spirit now.

As He healed, so can you lay hands on the sick (Mark 16:18).

As He spoke with wisdom, so will the Spirit give you utterance.

B. In Daily Life

Christ is above fear — so are you.

Christ is above condemnation — so are you (Romans 8:1).

Christ is not a slave to sin — and you are free too (Romans 6:14).

---

5. WARNINGS AND BALANCE

This truth is not license to be proud or sinful.

We don’t become equal to Christ in divinity — but we are joined to Him spiritually (1 Corinthians 6:17).

This identity should lead to humility, holiness, and service.

---

CONCLUSION

Beloved, this truth is not a metaphor — it is a mystery revealed to the children of God. The world will only see Christ when they see Him in us. The church must arise and walk in her true identity.

As He is — righteous, victorious, seated in authority, bold, holy, empowered, filled with glory — SO ARE WE in this world.

> "The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed." – Romans 8:19

ALTAR CALL

Are you in Christ? This identity is only for those who are born again. If you're not yet saved, receive Jesus today and become who God has destined you to be.

---

CONFESSION

I am who God says I am.
I walk in power and love.
As Christ is, so am I in this world.
I reign in life through Christ Jesus. Amen.
