CHALLENGE TO THE PREACHERS
📖 FULL SERMON: CHALLENGE TO THE PREACHERS
By Evangelist John Emmanuel
Main Text: Luke 4:43 — “But He said to them, ‘I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.’”
---
Introduction
Beloved in Christ, today’s message is a prophetic wake-up call, a burning reminder to every minister, preacher, pastor, and servant of God. It is titled “Challenge to the Preachers.” In a time when comfort, platforms, and applause have subtly become the focus of many in ministry, this message brings us back to the real assignment—souls, cities, and nations.
Jesus’ words in Luke 4:43 are not merely a statement of intention, but a clear declaration of purpose and mission. He said, “I must preach... to other cities also... for this is why I was sent.” That same fire must burn in the heart of every true preacher.
---
1. THE CALLING IS GLOBAL, NOT LOCAL
Yes, your ministry may begin in a village or small city. But the assignment is not confined to one location.
Matthew 28:19-20 — “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”
Acts 1:8 — “…you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The Great Commission is a global mandate. If we only stay within our comfort zones, we disobey the full scope of our calling. Jesus never parked His ministry in one town. He moved. He reached. He preached. He traveled on foot, by boat, and even risked danger—because souls mattered more than convenience.
---
2. THE BURDEN FOR OTHER CITIES
The words of Jesus in Luke 4:43 show His deep concern for the unreached. He was not content with the crowd He had already ministered to. He saw beyond the present audience to other towns, villages, and cities.
> “I must preach… to other cities also…”
Preacher, how many towns around you have not heard the Gospel? How many rural communities sit in darkness, while we build mega structures in urban cities? The same passion that drove Jesus to leave must compel us to go.
Romans 15:20 — “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known…” – Apostle Paul
A vision limited to the pulpit is a small vision. You were not called to build a fan base—you were called to raise a harvest.
---
3. MINISTRY IS MOBILITY
Jesus moved from place to place. Paul journeyed across nations. Philip left revival in Samaria to reach one man on a desert road. Missions is not optional—it is essential.
Mark 16:15 — “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
If your ministry has no mission arm, it is incomplete. You are not just a church planter—you are a Kingdom ambassador. Church without outreach is comfort without obedience. The anointing is not for entertainment—it’s for evangelism!
Let your feet be beautiful on the mountains (Isaiah 52:7). Let your voice cry out in the streets. Let your message shake dry lands with hope.
---
4. LEAD YOUR PEOPLE TO THE FIELDS
If you are a true preacher, then your leadership must stir your members towards the lost. You are not called to keep them seated forever but to lead them out into the harvest.
> Ephesians 4:11-12 — “…for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry…”
Your congregation should not just be choir members, ushers, and protocol—they must be soul winners. Train them. Mobilize them. Take them to rural areas. Lead by example. Do not just preach evangelism—practice it.
Let your altar be a launching pad, not a resting place.
---
5. THE TIME IS SHORT — THE HARVEST IS RIPE
Jesus said in John 4:35 — “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”
We must wake up to the urgency of now. Preachers, the time to go is not later—it is now. While we wait for bigger budgets and perfect conditions, souls are perishing.
Romans 13:11 — “...it is high time to awake out of sleep...”
2 Timothy 4:2 — “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season…”
There are cities, villages, and tribes awaiting the sound of the Gospel. Who will go? Who will rise? Who will answer the call?
---
6. DON’T BE TIED TO THE CROWD
When the people tried to keep Jesus in one place, He resisted them.
> “They tried to detain Him, but He said, ‘I must preach elsewhere…’”
Many preachers have become trapped by applause. The crowd is not your mission—the kingdom is. Do not trade the call for comfort. Do not settle for popularity over purpose.
Your ministry is not successful because people shout “Amen.” It is successful when nations hear “Jesus.”
---
7. REKINDLE THE FLAME OF MISSIONS
Dear Preacher, it’s time to:
Reignite your passion for the unreached.
Rethink your strategy for expansion.
Redirect your ministry towards harvest.
Refocus your energy on soul-winning.
You were not just called to build a church—you were called to shake the world.
Let the Holy Spirit stir in you the same urgency Jesus had. Let the fire of the Gospel push you beyond familiar borders.
---
Conclusion
Luke 4:43 must become your cry: “I must preach… to other cities also… for this is why I was sent.”
Preacher, it’s time to go again.
Go with fresh fire.
Go with renewed focus.
Go until every town has heard, until every man has known, until every ear has been filled with the glorious sound of salvation.
