DISCIPLESHIP & SPIRITUAL GROWTH
📖 WEEK 2: DISCIPLESHIP & SPIRITUAL GROWTH
Theme Scripture: Matthew 28:19 – “Go and make disciples of all nations...”
---
✍️ Day 1: What Is Discipleship and Why Does It Matter?
Text: Luke 9:23 – “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
Discipleship is not just attending church — it’s a life of following Jesus daily. It means surrendering your will, growing in His Word, and being transformed into His likeness.
Jesus didn’t ask for fans. He called us to be followers — people who live, act, speak, and love like Him.
It is disciples, not churchgoers, who make an impact.
🧱 True discipleship includes:
Obedience to God’s Word
Willingness to be taught
A commitment to grow and multiply
Action Step: Ask yourself: Am I truly following Jesus or just admiring Him from a distance?
---
✍️ Day 2: How to Grow Spiritually in a Distracted World
Text: 1 Peter 2:2 – “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.”
We live in a noisy world—full of distractions, social media, and endless entertainment. But spiritual growth requires intentional focus.
Growth doesn’t happen automatically. Just like physical growth needs food, rest, and exercise, your spirit needs the Word, prayer, and fellowship.
📌 Three keys to spiritual growth:
1. Daily Bible reading (not just reading, but meditating)
2. Consistent prayer life
3. Fellowship with believers who sharpen your walk
Action Step: Set a daily time (even 20 minutes) to read your Bible and pray without distractions. Start today.
---
✍️ Day 3: The Cost of Following Jesus
Text: Luke 14:27 – “Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.”
Many want the crown without the cross, but Jesus calls us to a life of sacrifice. Following Jesus will cost you comfort, friends, and even opportunities—but the reward is eternal life and glory.
True disciples are not driven by convenience but by conviction.
💡 Discipleship is not easy, but it is worth it.
You must count the cost and still say YES to Christ. This is not for the lukewarm—it’s for those who will lay down their lives to follow the Master.
Action Step: Write down what you must let go of to grow in Christ. Lay it at His feet in prayer.
---
✍️ Day 4: Raising Disciples in Rural Communities
Text: 2 Timothy 2:2 – “Teach these things to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.”
In rural areas, there may be no Bible schools, internet, or resources, but the gospel still thrives where there is hunger for truth.
Discipleship is not about buildings—it’s about relationship and commitment.
In your village, town, or neighborhood, you can raise disciples by:
Teaching the Word regularly (even under a tree or in a home)
Praying with people
Training them to also disciple others
🔥 Discipleship is multiplication, not just gathering.
Action Step: Begin a small group Bible study or prayer circle, no matter how few. Sow seeds — God will give the increase.
---
✍️ Day 5: Why House Churches Still Work Today
Text: Acts 2:46 – “They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.”
Before cathedrals and crusades, there were house churches—small gatherings where people worshiped, prayed, and studied together.
Today, in many rural and persecuted areas, house churches are still the backbone of revival.
They are flexible, intimate, cost-free, and Spirit-led.
Benefits of house churches:
Encourages deeper fellowship
Easier to start and multiply
Creates an environment for growth and accountability
🏡 Don't wait for a building — start with your living room.
Action Step: Consider gathering 2–5 people weekly for Bible study and prayer in your home. Let God move through that obedience.
---
🌱 Final Word for the Week:
Discipleship is the heart of the Great Commission.
If we grow, and then help others grow — revival will sweep across our land, village by village, soul by soul.
