THE FORCE OF PRAYER

FULL SERMON: "The Strongest Force on Earth – The Force of Prayer"
Preached by Evangelist John Emmanuel

Opening Scripture: James 5:16 (KJV)

> "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

Introduction

The world recognizes many forces—nuclear power, political power, financial power, intellectual power—but none of these compare to the supernatural force of prayer. Prayer is not just a religious exercise. It is a divine force—the strongest force on earth—because it connects the natural with the supernatural, the limited with the unlimited, and the human with the divine.

Today, we will look at what makes prayer the strongest force on earth, how it has shaped history, transformed lives, and brought heaven’s intervention into earthly matters.

---

1. Prayer Moves the Hand of God

Prayer has the ability to influence God's actions. Though God is sovereign, He has chosen to work through the prayers of His people.

Scripture:

Exodus 32:11–14 – When Moses prayed, God changed His mind about destroying Israel.

2 Chronicles 7:14 – "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray..." – Prayer can heal a land!

Key Point:

Prayer doesn't inform God—it invites Him. It brings God's will and power into our situation.

---

2. Prayer Unlocks Supernatural Power

Prayer is the key to releasing divine power into human situations. When the early church prayed, miracles happened.

Scripture:

Acts 4:31 – After they prayed, the place was shaken, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 12:5–10 – Peter was freed from prison because the church was praying without ceasing.

Key Point:

When prayer goes up, power comes down. The supernatural responds to persistent intercession.

---

3. Prayer Changes People and Circumstances

Prayer doesn't just change things; it changes you. It gives strength, clarity, boldness, and peace.

Scripture:

Luke 22:41–44 – Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, was strengthened through prayer.

Philippians 4:6–7 – Prayer replaces anxiety with peace that passes all understanding.

Key Point:

Prayer turns cowards into conquerors, doubters into believers, and weakness into strength.

---

4. Prayer is Heaven’s Legal Invitation to Intervene on Earth

God gave dominion to man on earth (Genesis 1:26). Through prayer, we invite heaven to act on our behalf.

Scripture:

Matthew 16:19 – "Whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven…"

Ezekiel 22:30 – God sought for a man to stand in the gap.

Key Point:

Without prayer, heaven is often locked out of earth’s matters. But prayer gives God access to intervene.

---

5. Prayer Defeats Satanic Powers

The enemy fears a praying Christian. He knows that a prayerful believer is a powerful believer.

Scripture:

Ephesians 6:12, 18 – After putting on the full armor, Paul says “praying always...”

Mark 9:29 – “This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.”

Key Point:

You may not be able to fight in the natural, but on your knees, you are a warrior! Demons tremble when saints pray!

---

6. Examples of Prayer’s Force in the Bible

Elijah (1 Kings 18:36–38): One prayer brought fire from heaven.

Hannah (1 Samuel 1:10–20): Her prayer broke barrenness and birthed a prophet.

Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:3–24): Prayer led to divine strategy and victory without lifting a sword.

Daniel (Daniel 6:10–23): His prayer life shut the mouths of lions.

---

7. Prayer Brings Revival and Awakening

Throughout history, every revival began with prayer—earnest, persistent, united prayer.

Scripture:

Acts 2:1–4 – The church was birthed in a prayer meeting.

Joel 2:15–17 – A call to prayer leads to a move of God.

Key Point:

We don't need more programs—we need more prayer! Revival is not a mystery; it is a product of travail in the place of prayer.

---

Conclusion: The Force You Cannot Ignore

The strongest force on earth is not atomic, political, or military—it is prayer. When a believer prays, heaven listens, angels move, demons flee, and the impossible becomes possible.

Final Scripture: Jeremiah 33:3

> "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

---

Call to Action

1. Start praying intentionally – Set times to seek God.

2. Join with others – There’s power in corporate prayer.

3. Believe in what you pray – Have faith that God hears and answers.

---

Closing Prayer

Lord, awaken in us the understanding and passion for prayer. May we never be passive in our walk with You. Let us rise in the spirit of prayer, knowing that through it, mountains move, nations shift, and destinies are birthed. In Jesus' name, Amen.
